State-wise Weather Forecast: Monsoon Withdrawal Likely from West Rajasthan

Assam, Meghalaya, Nagaland, Manipur, Mizoram, and Tripura will receive heavy to very heavy rainfall

CNB World Times

New Delhi, Sept 13, 2025 – The India Meteorological Department (IMD) on Saturday said that conditions are becoming favourable for the withdrawal of the Southwest Monsoon from some parts of West Rajasthan around September 15.

According to the IMD, the western end of the Monsoon trough is running near its normal position, while the eastern end is south of normal. A low-pressure area persists over the westcentral and adjoining northwest Bay of Bengal and the north Andhra Pradesh–south Odisha coasts. It is expected to move west-northwestwards across south Odisha, adjoining north Andhra Pradesh, and south Chhattisgarh within two days.

In addition, multiple cyclonic circulations are influencing weather patterns — over southwest Bihar and adjoining Jharkhand, over central Assam, over northeast Rajasthan, and along trough lines extending from South Interior Karnataka to the Gulf of Mannar and from the low-pressure area to South Maharashtra.

Northeast India:

Light to moderate rain and thunderstorms are expected at many places. Isolated heavy rainfall is likely over Arunachal Pradesh till September 18, with very heavy rainfall between September 13–16. Assam, Meghalaya, Nagaland, Manipur, Mizoram, and Tripura will also receive heavy to very heavy rainfall on different days till September 19.

South Peninsular India:

Light to moderate rain with gusty winds (30–40 kmph) is likely in several states. Heavy rain is forecast for Tamil Nadu (Sept 13, 16–19), Coastal Andhra Pradesh and Yanam (Sept 13–14), Rayalaseema (Sept 13), Telangana (Sept 13–17), and North Interior Karnataka (Sept 13–16). Telangana may witness very heavy rainfall on Sept 13. Strong surface winds (30–50 kmph) are also likely over Coastal Andhra Pradesh, Yanam, and Rayalaseema during the next five days.

East & Central India:

Widespread rain and thunderstorms are predicted. Heavy rainfall is expected in West Madhya Pradesh (Sept 14–16), East Madhya Pradesh, Vidarbha, and Odisha (Sept 13–15), and Chhattisgarh (Sept 13–16). The Andaman & Nicobar Islands will receive rainfall on Sept 14 and again from Sept 17–19. Sub-Himalayan West Bengal & Sikkim will see continuous rainfall till Sept 19, with very heavy spells on Sept 13–14. Bihar may experience heavy rainfall between Sept 14–16, while Jharkhand is likely to receive rain between Sept 15–17.

West India:

Konkan & Goa, Madhya Maharashtra, and Marathwada will receive light to moderate rain with isolated heavy spells till Sept 15. Very heavy rainfall is expected over Konkan & Goa (Sept 14–15) and Madhya Maharashtra (Sept 15).

Northwest India:

Rainfall activity will remain scattered. Himachal Pradesh is likely to receive heavy rainfall on Sept 13–14, while Uttarakhand may see heavy to very heavy rainfall between Sept 13–16. North Punjab may experience isolated heavy showers on Sept 13. East Uttar Pradesh will receive rain from Sept 15–19.

The IMD has advised state governments and disaster management agencies to remain alert to the possibility of localized flooding, landslides in hilly areas, and strong winds in coastal and inland regions.
