Bhubaneswar, July 18: A low-pressure area over north Odisha and adjoining Jharkhand and Gangetic West Bengal has weakened gradually, but its associated cyclonic circulation continues to influence weather across Odisha. The system is expected to weaken further while causing widespread rainfall over several districts.

The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued an Orange Warning for July 18, forecasting heavy to very heavy rainfall at isolated places in Bargarh, Sonepur, Boudh and Bolangir districts.

A Yellow Warning has also been issued for Mayurbhanj, Keonjhar, Sundargarh, Jharsuguda, Sambalpur, Deogarh, Angul, Kalahandi, Kandhamal, Nabarangpur and Nuapada, where isolated heavy rainfall is likely.

Rainfall Forecast

  • July 18: Orange Warning for Bargarh, Sonepur, Boudh and Bolangir. Yellow Warning for 11 other districts.
  • July 19: Yellow Warning for Mayurbhanj, Keonjhar, Sundargarh, Bargarh, Bolangir and Nuapada.
  • July 20: Yellow Warning for Mayurbhanj and Keonjhar.
  • July 21: Yellow Warning for Mayurbhanj, Keonjhar, Jharsuguda and Sundargarh.
