New Delhi, 22 November 2025: The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued an updated weather forecast, based on multiple active weather systems over the region.
Weather Systems
A Low Pressure Area formed today over the Strait of Malacca and the adjoining South Andaman Sea. It developed under the influence of yesterday’s upper air cyclonic circulation. The system is likely to move west-northwestwards and may intensify into a depression over the southeast Bay of Bengal by 24 November. It is expected to strengthen further over the southwest Bay of Bengal in the next 48 hours.
Upper air cyclonic circulations also persist over:
East Bangladesh and neighbourhood, Southeast Arabian Sea, Comorin area and adjoining Indian equatorial ocean
These systems are influencing widespread weather activity across several regions.

Andaman & Nicobar Islands: Heavy rain from 22–27 November, with very heavy rain on 24 & 25 November.
Tamil Nadu: Heavy rainfall likely from 22–25 November.
Kerala & Mahe: Heavy rain expected from 22–26 November.
Lakshadweep: Heavy rain on 22 & 23 November.
Rayalaseema: Heavy rain on 22 November.

Tamil Nadu, Coastal Andhra Pradesh & Yanam, Rayalaseema: 22–24 November
Kerala & Mahe, Lakshadweep: 22–26 November
Coastal Karnataka, South Interior Karnataka: 22 November
Andaman & Nicobar Islands: Thunderstorms with gusty winds of 40–50 kmph likely through the week.
Temperature Forecast & Cold Wave Trend
A gradual fall of 2–3°C in minimum temperatures is expected over northwest India in the next four days.
Minimum temperatures are likely to rise by 2°C over West and Central India during the next two days.
A fall of 2–3°C is likely over northeast India in the next two days.
No major temperature change expected elsewhere.
Shallow to moderate fog likely over Northeast India and Uttar Pradesh for the next five days.
