Several weather systems, including multiple upper-air cyclonic circulations and an active monsoon trough, are influencing weather conditions across India. These systems are expected to bring widespread rainfall, thunderstorms, and intense rain spells over many parts of the country during 4–10 August.
The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has warned of heavy to very heavy rainfall, with extremely heavy rainfall expected at isolated places in Sub-Himalayan West Bengal & Sikkim on 4 August and Assam & Meghalaya on 4 and 5 August.
Very heavy rainfall is also likely over Odisha (5–6 August), Bihar (5 August), Gangetic West Bengal (6 August), Himachal Pradesh (4 August), Uttarakhand (4–5 August), East and West Uttar Pradesh (4–6 August), East Rajasthan (7–8 August), East and West Madhya Pradesh (6–7 August), Konkan & Goa (5 August), Madhya Maharashtra (5–6 August), Coastal and South Interior Karnataka (4 August), Arunachal Pradesh (4–5 August), and Nagaland, Manipur, Mizoram & Tripura (4 August).
Heavy rainfall is forecast for several other regions, including Jammu & Kashmir, Himachal Pradesh, Uttarakhand, Punjab, Haryana, Delhi, Uttar Pradesh, Rajasthan, Madhya Pradesh, Chhattisgarh, Jharkhand, Bihar, Odisha, West Bengal, Andaman & Nicobar Islands, Assam & Meghalaya, Northeast India, Konkan & Goa, Maharashtra, Kerala, Karnataka, Telangana, Andhra Pradesh, Tamil Nadu, and Lakshadweep on different days between 4 and 10 August.
Thunderstorms, lightning, squally winds, and strong surface winds are also expected over parts of eastern, northeastern, western, and southern India. Residents in the affected areas are advised to remain alert and follow the latest weather advisories issued by the IMD.
