PARAM SUNDARI to Hit Theatres on August 29
Mumbai, 28th Aug 2025: “Param Sundari”, the much-awaited romantic comedy starring Sidharth Malhotra and Janhvi Kapoor, is all set to release in theatres on Friday, August 29, 2025. Directed by Tushar Jalota and produced by Maddock Films, the film explores love, culture, and conflict through the story of a North Indian boy and a South Indian girl who fall for each other despite their contrasting worlds.
A special screening was held in Mumbai earlier this week, attended by several personalities including social media influencer Simone Khambatta. Sharing her review on Instagram, Simone praised the on-screen chemistry between the leads and described the film as a “happy, funny, adorable, feel-good entertainer.”
The film, certified U/A 13+ by the censor board, underwent minor edits including muting of certain words and changes in subtitles before being cleared without visual cuts. Originally slated for a July release, *Param Sundari* was rescheduled to avoid a clash with “Son of Sardaar 2”.
The project was first reported in November 2024 and officially announced by Maddock Films in December the same year. Interestingly, its title draws inspiration from the popular A.R. Rahman song “Param Sundari” from “Mimi”, also produced by Maddock.
Set against the scenic backdrop of Kerala’s backwaters, the film narrates the story of Param, a flamboyant Delhi boy, and Sundari, a graceful girl of Tamil-Malayali heritage. Their journey mixes romance with cultural clashes, comedy, and emotional dilemmas.
The music of “Param Sundari” has been composed by Sachin-Jigar with lyrics by Amitabh Bhattacharya. Universal Music India has acquired the audio rights. The first two singles, “Pardesiya” and “Bheegi Saree,” released in late July and early August, have already gained traction among fans.
Despite the excitement, the film has also sparked debate. After the trailer launch, Janhvi Kapoor’s accent and portrayal drew criticism from some voices in Kerala, including actor-singer Pavithra Menon and digital creator Steffi, who questioned the casting choice.
With high expectations, vibrant music, and a fresh on-screen pairing, *Param Sundari* is now set to test its magic at the box office this Friday.
