The monsoon trough remains active and south of its normal position, while several cyclonic circulations and a shear zone are influencing weather conditions across the country. A new Low-Pressure Area is likely to form over the northwest Bay of Bengal around August 12.
Key Heavy Rainfall Forecast
· East Rajasthan: Heavy to very heavy rainfall at a few places, with extremely heavy rainfall at isolated places on August 10. Very heavy rainfall is also likely on August 11.
· West Madhya Pradesh: Heavy to very heavy rainfall, with extremely heavy rainfall at isolated places on August 10.
· Himachal Pradesh: Very heavy rainfall on August 10–11; heavy rainfall is likely during August 12–16.
· Uttarakhand: Very heavy rainfall on August 10 and heavy rainfall during August 11–16.
· Jammu & Kashmir, Ladakh and adjoining areas: Heavy rainfall during August 10–16.
· Odisha: Heavy rainfall on August 10–11 and August 16, with very heavy rainfall likely during August 12–15.
· Northeast India: Heavy rainfall is expected over Arunachal Pradesh, Assam & Meghalaya and the northeastern states during different periods from August 10–16. Very heavy rainfall is likely over Arunachal Pradesh and Assam & Meghalaya on August 15–16.
· Gujarat Region: Very heavy rainfall is likely on August 10, with heavy rainfall on August 11.
· Madhya Maharashtra: Heavy rainfall is likely during August 10–12.
· Konkan & Goa: Heavy rainfall is likely on August 11.
Regional Forecast
Northwest India: Widespread rainfall is expected over Himachal Pradesh, Jammu & Kashmir, Ladakh and Uttarakhand during August 10–16. Haryana, Chandigarh, Delhi, Punjab, Uttar Pradesh and Rajasthan are also likely to receive rainfall during different periods.
Central India: West and East Madhya Pradesh, Vidarbha and Chhattisgarh are likely to receive widespread rainfall. Thunderstorms and lightning are expected over Chhattisgarh.
East India: Odisha, Gangetic West Bengal, Sub-Himalayan West Bengal & Sikkim and Andaman & Nicobar Islands are likely to experience widespread rainfall. Jharkhand and Bihar will see increased rainfall from August 12–16.
Northeast India: Rainfall activity is likely to increase from August 12, with widespread rainfall over Arunachal Pradesh, Assam & Meghalaya and the northeastern states. Thunderstorms and lightning are also expected.
West India: Konkan & Goa and Gujarat are likely to receive widespread rainfall, while Madhya Maharashtra may experience heavy rainfall during August 10–12.
South Peninsular India: Widespread rainfall is expected over Coastal Karnataka, Kerala & Mahe and Lakshadweep. Thunderstorms, lightning and gusty winds are likely over several southern and coastal areas.

People in East Rajasthan, West Madhya Pradesh, Himachal Pradesh, Uttarakhand, Odisha, Gujarat and parts of Northeast India should remain alert to episodes of heavy to extremely heavy rainfall.
