Badminton star Jwala Gutta has donated 30 litres of breast milk to help premature and critically ill infants. She began contributing after welcoming her daughter Mira in April this year. The donations are part of a milk drive at a government hospital.
Jwala shared the initiative on social media, urging more mothers to donate. She wrote that breast milk saves lives and can be life-changing for babies who do not have access to their mother’s milk. Her appeal described donors as “heroes” who can give hope to families in need.
She has been donating milk regularly for the past four months. The effort has received widespread appreciation online. Many users praised her as an inspiration, while others highlighted the health benefits of breast milk, especially its role in physical and cognitive development.
Jwala and actor-producer Vishnu Vishal married in 2021 and became parents to baby Mira this year.
This is not the only story of such generosity. In Tamil Nadu, a homemaker named Selva Brindha from Trichy has donated 300 litres of breast milk over 22 months. Her contribution has saved many newborns and earned her entries in the Asia Book of Records and India Book of Records.
Brindha said her journey began in 2023, when her own baby required neonatal care. Supported by her family, she continued to donate and now encourages others to break taboos around milk donation. She believes even a small contribution can make a big difference for babies in need.
