New Delhi, 17th Sep, 2025: The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a fresh weather forecast for the coming days. Several weather systems are currently active across the country.

 

An upper air cyclonic circulation lies over East Uttar Pradesh and adjoining Bihar. Another system is seen over central Assam in the lower levels. A cyclonic circulation also persists over Marathwada. A north-south trough extends from South Interior Karnataka to the Comorin area. Another trough runs from central Madhya Pradesh to the Bay of Bengal.

 

East and Central India:

Light to moderate rain with thunderstorms is expected at many places. Heavy rain is likely in Jharkhand, Vidarbha, and Chhattisgarh on 17th September. Bihar may see heavy to very heavy rainfall from 17th to 20th September. Sub-Himalayan West Bengal and Sikkim may also receive heavy rain between 17th and 19th September. Andaman and Nicobar Islands are likely to get heavy rain from 18th to 21st September. Gusty winds of 30-40 kmph may blow across East India for the next 5-6 days.

 

Northeast India:

Rain and thunderstorms are likely at many places. Arunachal Pradesh may receive heavy rain from 17th to 19th September, with very heavy rain on 17th. Assam and Meghalaya may see heavy showers between 17th and 23rd September. Nagaland, Manipur, Mizoram, and Tripura may get heavy rainfall during 19th to 23rd September.

 

Northwest India:

Light to moderate rainfall is expected in some areas. Heavy rain is likely over Uttarakhand and East Uttar Pradesh on 17th and 18th September. Parts of Northwest Uttar Pradesh, especially the tarai region, may also get heavy rain on 17th September.

 

South India:

Light to moderate rain is expected in many places. Tamil Nadu may get heavy rain from 17th to 19th September. Kerala, Coastal Andhra Pradesh, Rayalaseema, and Karnataka may see heavy showers on 17th and 18th September. Telangana and North Interior Karnataka may also get heavy rainfall on 17th September. Strong winds of 30-40 kmph are expected over Telangana, Coastal Andhra Pradesh, and Rayalaseema for the next 5 days.

 

West India:

Light to moderate rain is likely in many areas. Heavy rain is expected over Marathwada on 17th September. Konkan, Goa, and Madhya Maharashtra may receive heavy rain on 17th and 18th September.

 

Warnings for Fishermen:

Fishermen have been advised not to venture into the sea in certain regions. Risk zones include parts of the Arabian Sea, especially near Somalia, Oman, and Yemen coasts from 17th to 22nd September. Along India’s west coast, the sea near Konkan and Goa will be rough between 17th and 19th September. In the Bay of Bengal, dangerous conditions are expected near Sri Lanka, the Gulf of Mannar, the Comorin area, and the Andaman Sea from 17th to 22nd September.
