Bihar Assembly Elections 2025: Campaigning Intensifies Ahead of First Phase Voting on November 6

Recent pre-election surveys suggest that voters are largely focused on economic and governance issues.

Bihar, 1st Nov, 2025: As Bihar gears up for the 2025 Assembly elections, political campaigning has reached its peak across the state. Voting for 121 constituencies will take place on November 6 in the first phase. All major parties, including the National Democratic Alliance (NDA) and the Mahagathbandhan (Grand Alliance), are making their final push to connect with voters.

Tejashwi Yadav’s High-Speed Campaign

Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) leader Tejashwi Prasad Yadav, the Chief Ministerial face of the Mahagathbandhan, has adopted an energetic and extensive campaign strategy. In just three days, he has already held 27 rallies, and his schedule is expected to reach up to 10 rallies a day till November 9. By the end of the campaign period, Yadav is expected to cover nearly 120 rallies across Bihar.

At each rally, Yadav spends around 20–25 minutes, focusing his speeches on unemployment, development, and unity. His team aims to reach every major district in a short time, resembling his fast-paced campaign style from the 2020 elections.

While the BJP has criticised him for starting his campaign late due to internal disagreements within the Mahagathbandhan, RJD insiders believe his rapid outreach is helping him connect directly with people in both rural and urban regions.

Top Leaders from NDA Intensify Rallies

From the NDA side, Prime Minister Narendra Modi is holding rallies today in Muzaffarpur and Chhapra, marking his second visit to the state since the election announcement. Union Home Minister Amit Shah is also on a two-day campaign, addressing gatherings in Tarapur (Munger), Hilsa (Nalanda), and Paliganj (Patna).

BJP National President JP Nadda will campaign in Brahmpur (Buxar) and Bikram (Patna). Leaders from the Janata Dal (United), Lok Janshakti Party (Ram Vilas), and other NDA allies are also conducting public meetings across districts.

Congress and Other Allies Active on the Ground

Congress leader Rahul Gandhi is addressing public meetings in Barbigha (Sheikhpura) and Noorsarai (Nalanda) to strengthen the Mahagathbandhan’s presence. Smaller parties, including the Jan Suraj Party, Jan Shakti Janata Dal, and the Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP), are also actively campaigning to gain local influence.

Public Mood and Opinion Poll Trends

Recent pre-election surveys suggest that voters are largely focused on economic and governance issues.

According to an IANS-Matrize survey, 24% of respondents see unemployment as the biggest concern, followed by corruption (10%), education (8%), and inflation (7%).

Leadership preference remains divided. Some polls give Nitish Kumar (JD-U) an edge with around 42% support, while others show Tejashwi Yadav slightly ahead at about 38%.

On alliance performance, most surveys indicate the NDA leading with around 49% vote share, compared to 36% for the Mahagathbandhan, though the margin varies across agencies. Seat projections range from NDA 125–160 and Opposition 75–105.

Ground Reality Still Fluid

Analysts caution that these are opinion polls, not forecasts. Voter choices in Bihar often shift close to polling day, depending on turnout, candidate selection, and local caste dynamics.

While the NDA appears to hold an advantage in several surveys, Tejashwi Yadav’s energetic campaign and the focus on youth issues could make the contest tighter in many constituencies.

As the first phase of polling nears, Bihar’s political landscape remains highly charged, with all parties striving to influence the final swing of voters in their favour.
