Weather Systems Behind the Rain

The IMD said the active monsoon conditions are being influenced by several weather systems, including:

·         The monsoon trough extending across northern India.

·         A western disturbance over northeast Punjab.

·         Upper air cyclonic circulations over East Uttar Pradesh, Northwest Bihar and north Bangladesh.

·         A trough stretching from Northwest Bihar to Manipur.

These systems are expected to maintain favourable conditions for heavy rainfall across eastern and northeastern India.

Rainfall Activity Elsewhere

While eastern and northeastern states are likely to witness intense rainfall, rainfall activity is expected to remain subdued over the plains of northwest India, west-central India and most parts of south Peninsular India during the next six to seven days.

Public Advisory

Residents in heavy rainfall warning areas are advised to remain alert for possible waterlogging, flash floods, landslides in hilly regions, and traffic disruptions. People should follow advisories issued by local authorities and avoid travelling through flood-prone areas during periods of intense rainfall.
