AAP Protests Delay in Kalimandir–Kandha Road Construction in Chandbali

Bhadrak, July 14: Residents and leaders of the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) staged a protest in Chandbali on Monday, demanding the early completion of the Kalimandir–Kandha Road, alleging prolonged administrative negligence and delay in the construction work.
According to the protesters, the 5-km road from Kalimandir to Kandha has remained in a poor condition for nearly four years. Large potholes and damaged stretches have made the road unsafe, leading to several accidents and injuries. They claimed that even 30 percent of the construction work is yet to be completed.
The road is a major route for residents of Chandbali NAC, several nearby panchayats, and people from the Dhamra area who cross the river daily. Thousands of people use the road every day to reach markets, the Chandbali Community Health Centre, schools, and government offices.
The protesters alleged that repeated appeals to the local and district administration for early completion of the road have not produced any positive results.
The protest was led by Chandbali Block AAP Coordinator Asish Kumar Behera, social worker Ashok Kumar Behera, AAP District Treasurer Nab Kishore Singh, Block Co-Coordinator Sudam Das, and leaders from seven panchayats of the Dhamra area, Umesh Chandra Sethi and Rajendra Sethi. Party workers and local residents marched from Haripur Matha via Kalimandir before reaching the Chandbali Tehsil Office.
A protest meeting was held outside the Tehsil Office, where the speakers accused the administration of negligence and alleged that the contractor had recently spread mining dust on the road to temporarily cover water-filled potholes ahead of the demonstration instead of carrying out permanent repairs.
As the Tahsildar was not present, the protesters submitted a memorandum to Additional Tahsildar Dolimani Tudu, addressed to Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi, seeking immediate completion of the road project.
The protesters expressed hope that the government would take prompt action. They also warned that if their demands are not met soon, thousands of local residents would intensify the agitation in the coming days.
