Chandbali, Bhadrak, 30th October, 25: Odisha is gearing up in full spirit to celebrate the 150th birth anniversary of the Iron Man of India, Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel, who is remembered as the symbol of India’s unity and integrity. The state is organizing several activities as part of the nationwide celebration of Rashtriya Ekta Diwas (National Unity Day) on October 31, 2025.

The celebrations are being held under the theme “Ek Bharat, Aatmanirbhar Bharat” (One India, Self-Reliant India), reflecting Sardar Patel’s vision of a united, strong, and self-reliant nation.

Statewide Preparations in Odisha

Across Odisha, preparations are underway for Run for Unity events and Unity Marches at district and block levels. The Odisha Police will also participate in a national parade to mark the occasion. Educational institutions and youth groups are planning cultural programs, unity pledges, and awareness activities promoting the idea of national integrity and self-reliance.

National-Level Celebrations: Sardar@150 Unity March

At the national level, Union Minister for Youth Affairs & Sports and Labour & Employment Dr. Mansukh Mandaviya, along with Union Minister of State Smt. Raksha Khadse, has announced the launch of the Sardar@150 Unity March, a massive campaign led by MY Bharat.

This campaign, spread over two months, aims to inspire unity, patriotism, and civic responsibility among India’s youth. It is part of Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s vision of “Jan Bhagidari in Rashtranirman” — encouraging public participation in nation-building.

The digital phase of the campaign began on October 6, 2025, featuring online activities like social media reel competitions, essay writing, and the Sardar@150 Young Leaders Quiz for youth aged 15–29 years. The winners will be announced before the launch of the National Padyatra on November 26, 2025.

Padyatras Across India

The first phase of the padyatra will take place at the district level from October 31 to November 25, 2025, covering all parliamentary constituencies. Each padyatra will include walks of 8–10 km per day, led by ministers, MPs, and local representatives, showcasing India’s diverse cultures and unity.

During these padyatras, various programs such as health camps, cleanliness drives, debates on unity, and pledges for a drug-free India will be conducted. Volunteers from MY Bharat, NSS, and NCC will actively participate. Eminent scholars, athletes, and retired civil servants will join to motivate the youth.

The National Padyatra will start on November 26, 2025 (Constitution Day) from Karamsad, the birthplace of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel, and will end on December 6, 2025, at the Statue of Unity in Kevadia, covering a total distance of 152 km.

A group of 150 outstanding young leaders, selected through the Young Leaders Program, will walk alongside Union Minister Dr. Mandaviya, representing the youth’s active role in building a united and self-reliant India.

Each evening of the padyatra will feature “Sardar Gatha” sessions, where inspiring stories from Sardar Patel’s life will be shared to remind participants of his pivotal role in uniting India.
