Patna,Bihar, 10th Oct, 2025: In a major pre-election announcement, Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) leader Tejashwi Yadav on Thursday promised that every household in Bihar will get at least one government job if his party comes to power. Calling it a “historic and revolutionary” step, Tejashwi said this promise is his pledge to the people of Bihar.

Addressing supporters, the 35-year-old Leader of Opposition said, “As soon as the government is formed, within 20 months, there will be no household in Bihar without a government job.” He added that his first act as Chief Minister would be to sign the proposal in the very first cabinet meeting.

Tejashwi said a new law would be made within 20 days of forming the government to ensure that every family gets a government job. “This is not a jumla (false promise). We have done our survey and have scientific data. I do not need to give proof. People of Bihar know that Tejashwi does what he says,” he said.

The RJD leader claimed that during his earlier tenure as Deputy Chief Minister in the Mahagathbandhan government (2022–2024), he had provided five lakh jobs in just 17 months. “This is just the beginning. More big announcements will follow,” he assured.

However, leaders from the ruling NDA criticised Tejashwi’s statement. Bihar Minister Ashok Choudhary dismissed the promise as an “election bubble.” He said, “This is only an attempt to create a sensation. People know that Nitish Kumar runs a stable and effective government. They will not be misled by such stunts.”

The NDA, on the other hand, has countered Tejashwi’s claims by promising one crore jobs in Bihar ahead of the assembly elections. Critics also pointed to the existing shortage of government staff — one police officer for every 1,500 people, one doctor for every 9,000, and one teacher for every 60 students.

Despite the criticism, Tejashwi remained firm on his stand. “We want to bring economic justice along with social justice,” he said. “When every family has a government job, everyone will run the Bihar government, not just Tejashwi.”

Political observers see the announcement as a bold and ambitious move ahead of the upcoming Bihar Assembly elections, potentially reshaping the state’s political narrative.
