Chandbali, Odisha, 8th October , 2025:
The Baitarani Mahotsav — a cultural movement that has successfully raised public awareness about river protection in Kendrapara and Bhadrak districts — continues to strengthen its efforts for the conservation of the Baitarani River and the promotion of local social culture.
The first preparatory meeting of the “Kanika–Chandbali Baitarani Mahotsav 2026” Steering Committee was held at its temporary office, Ananya Cultural Institute, Sailendranagar, near the New Bus Stand, Chandbali.
The meeting, chaired by the Executive President of the organization, Shri Braj Kishore Panda, was attended by all key members and volunteers of the Steering Committee. It was decided that the 2026 edition of the Mahotsav will be organized in the second week of January.
To ensure broader participation and greater impact, this year’s committee has included more well-wishers, cultural organizations, artists, social workers, environmentalists, and community leaders as members. The committee also approved several proposals to build upon the success of the previous year’s event.
Sub-committees have been formed to oversee the responsibilities of various departments. Notably, in view of the limited encouragement and cooperation from both the government and opposition parties, a special committee will soon engage with state, district, block, and constituency-level leaders and administrative officials to seek greater support for the initiative.
Prominent members present at the meeting included Nirmal Chandra Raut, Aditya Kumar Biswal, Manguli Charan Behera, Amiya Kumar Sahu, Devabrat Das, Raghunath Sahu, Gangadhar Das, Ranjan Das, Ashok Sahu, Kedar Chandra Mohanty, Sarat Raut, Chandrakanti Das, Sushil Kumar Barik, Ratikant Barik, Prakash Kumar Sethi, Dilip Kumar Behera, Sriram Nayak, Vikram Acharya, Sukant Kumar Sahoo, and Biswa Keshari Mohanty.
