Bhadrak, 30th June 2026: A joint public grievance redressal camp chaired by Bhadrak District Collector Sri Dilip Kumar Rautray and Additional Superintendent of Police Arup Abhishek Behera was held at the Conference Hall of the Chandbali Block Development Office, where district and block-level officials heard and addressed public complaints.
Key Highlights
· A total of 262 grievances were registered during the camp.
· 136 complaints were individual and 48 were collective.
· 11 complaints were resolved on the spot.
· Financial assistance of ₹24,000 was provided to five beneficiaries from the District Red Cross Fund.
· Remaining grievances were assigned to the concerned departments with fixed timelines for resolution.
Road and Drinking Water Issues Dominate Complaints
The largest number of complaints related to the poor condition of roads and delayed repair works in several panchayats. Residents also raised concerns over drinking water supply under the Rural Water Supply and Sanitation (RWSS) programme.
The Collector directed the Roads & Buildings Department to treat road repairs as a priority. Officials informed that agencies have been given a two-day deadline to address drinking water-related complaints in affected villages.
Ration Cards and Social Welfare Benefits
Many residents sought inclusion of eligible family members in ration cards under the Public Distribution System (PDS). Complaints were also received regarding delays in old-age pensions and other welfare benefits.
The Collector instructed officials to immediately resolve pending cases and ensure that eligible beneficiaries receive government assistance without delay.
Teacher Shortage in Odisha Adarsh Vidyalaya
Parents expressed concern over vacancies of teachers in subjects such as English, Hindi, Sanskrit and Information Technology in Odisha Adarsh Vidyalaya.
After speaking with school authorities, the Collector informed that permanent recruitment is expected to be completed by September 2026. As an interim measure, part-time teachers will be appointed, with joining scheduled from July 1, 2026.
Crackdown Ordered on Illegal Liquor Trade
Residents and social organisations complained about the growing sale of illicit liquor in Chandbali town and nearby rural areas, particularly near schools and temples.
Taking serious note of the issue, the Collector directed the Excise Department and police to investigate the complaints and take strict legal action against those involved.
Irrigation Department Asked to Improve Accountability
The Collector also expressed dissatisfaction over alleged irregularities in the Chandbali Irrigation Department. He instructed the departmental authorities to maintain discipline, address internal administrative issues, and submit a pending report related to alleged fake bills for 38 irrigation projects executed in March.

The grievance camp was attended by Additional District Collector Saroj Dutta, Deputy Collector Saurabh Chakrabarti, District Council Project Director Subhendu Kumar Samal, Additional Chief Medical Officer Dr. Kankalata Sahoo, SDPO Parvat Kumar Sahu, Tehsildar Bhabatosh Mallick, BDO Sanjeev Kumar Mahapatra, IIC Paresh Mohanty, and officials from various district and block-level departments.
District officials stated that unresolved grievances would be monitored regularly until appropriate action is completed.
