New Delhi, July 2, 2025 — Prime Minister Narendra Modi has set out on an eight-day, five-nation diplomatic tour — his longest foreign visit in a decade — aimed at bolstering India’s strategic, economic, and people-to-people ties with key nations of the Global South. The tour spans Ghana, Trinidad and Tobago, Argentina, Brazil, and Namibia from July 2 to 9, 2025.

This milestone journey marks Modi’s 90th international trip since assuming office in 2014, reinforcing his status as the most widely-travelled Prime Minister in India’s history, with visits to 76 countries. The current tour will emphasize cooperation in trade, defence, energy, agriculture, technology, and multilateral platforms such as BRICS, ECOWAS, CARICOM, and the African Union.

PM Modi’s first stop is Ghana, a leading West African economy and India’s top gold supplier. The visit includes discussions with President John Dramani Mahama and a historic address to Ghana’s Parliament. The focus will be on energy, healthcare, capacity building, and investment.

On July 3–4, Modi visits Trinidad and Tobago, where he will meet President Christine Carla Kangaloo and Prime Minister Kamla Persad-Bissessar. Emphasizing ancestral ties, the visit aims to deepen cultural, economic, and diaspora bonds in the Caribbean.

In Argentina (July 4–5), PM Modi will meet President Javier Milei during the first bilateral Indian Prime Ministerial visit in 57 years. The agenda includes strengthening cooperation in agriculture, critical minerals, technology, and trade.

Modi will then attend the BRICS Summit in Rio de Janeiro on July 6–7. As a founding BRICS member, India remains committed to shaping a more just and balanced multipolar world order. Post-summit, he will head to Brasilia for a bilateral state visit — the first by an Indian PM in nearly six decades — to collaborate with President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva on shared priorities of the Global South.

The tour concludes in Namibia (July 8–9), where Modi will meet President Dr. Netumbo Nandi-Ndaitwah. He will also address the Namibian Parliament, focusing on a roadmap for sustainable development and historical solidarity.

Sharing his thoughts on X, PM Modi said, Over the next few days, I will be attending various bilateral, multilateral and other programmes in Ghana, Trinidad & Tobago, Argentina, Brazil, and Namibia. Looking forward to interacting with world leaders and discussing ways to make our planet better.."
