Tihidi, Bhadrak, 6th Jan’ 26: A massive fire broke out at Pandit Sahi in Bhadrak district, destroying houses, huts, and cattle sheds. Twelve cows and three goats died in the blaze. Local administration, MP, and MLA provided relief and assistance to affected families.

The fire broke out suddenly and spread very fast. The intensity of the flames was extremely severe. People could not go near the burning houses due to fear. They could save only a few items like clothes, some rice, children’s books, ration cards, and a few household essentials.

 

 Nine houses with 16 rooms and 7 cattle sheds were completely destroyed in the fire. By the time the fire brigade reached the spot, everything had already been reduced to ashes. There was concern among locals that the fire brigade arrived late, which worsened the situation.

 

According to official information, a total of 9 houses of 16 rooms, and 7 cattle sheds were burnt down in Pandit Sahi. In the tragic incident, 12 cows and 3 goats were burnt alive.

 

The scene was heart-breaking. Affected families were seen crying helplessly, leaving villagers shocked and saddened.

 

District Council Member Amulya Majhi reached the spot soon after the incident. He consoled the affected families and assured them of all possible government help. Some youths from the village also came forward and provided dry food to the distressed families.

 

After receiving information, Tihidi Tahsildar Jayadratha Acharya, along with the Revenue Inspector, visited the spot. He ordered the arrangement of cooked food for 30 members of 9 affected families for three days. The affected people were shifted to a nearby community centre and Anganwadi centre. The administration provided 20 polythene sheets, 20 blankets, and dry food items like bitten rice (chuda), Gur (guda), and biscuits.

 

Bhadrak Member of Parliament Abhimanyu also visited the fire-affected area. He expressed deep sympathy for the victims and extended support. The MP distributed blankets, sarees, lungi, gamuchha, clothes, and dry food to the affected families.

 

Chandbali MLA Byomkesh Roy, Tihidi Block President Avanti Das, former Block President Sushri Vidyut Lata Nayak, and District Council Member Amulya Majhi also visited the site. They stood by the affected families and extended help. The MLA provided financial assistance of Rs 10,000, along with seven large tarpaulins and sarees for women. The Block President contributed Rs 3,000, and the former President also provided Rs 3,000 as immediate relief.

 

The tragic fire has left several families homeless and without livelihood. Local administration and public representatives have assured continued support to help the victims recover from this disaster.
