New Delhi, June 7: Domestic cooking gas (LPG) prices have been increased by Rs 29 per 14.2-kg cylinder across the country. The revised rates came into effect on June 7.

Following the latest revision, the price of a 14.2-kg domestic LPG cylinder in Delhi has increased from Rs 913 to Rs 942. This is the second LPG price hike in the last three months after oil marketing companies raised prices by Rs 60 per cylinder on March 7.

The increase comes amid rising international energy prices and supply disruptions linked to the ongoing conflict in West Asia. According to industry sources, higher global fuel costs have increased the burden on oil marketing companies.

The revised LPG prices in major cities are:

·         Delhi: Rs 942 (up from Rs 913)

·         Mumbai: Rs 941.50

·         Kolkata: Rs 968

·         Hyderabad: Rs 994

Officials said retail LPG prices vary across cities due to differences in local taxes and transportation costs.

Speaking at an inter-ministerial briefing, Sujata Sharma, Joint Secretary in the Ministry of Petroleum and Natural Gas, said the government has taken several measures to ensure adequate LPG availability. These include increasing domestic production and securing additional imports.

She stated that oil companies continue to face under-recoveries of nearly Rs 700 per domestic LPG cylinder despite the latest price increase.

Sharma also noted that LPG demand growth has moderated due to factors such as improved booking cycles, technology-based delivery authentication, and lower consumption by commercial and industrial users.

Meanwhile, prices of other fuels have also increased in recent weeks. Petrol and diesel prices have risen by a cumulative Rs 7.50 per litre since mid-May, while compressed natural gas (CNG) prices have increased by around Rs 6 per kilogram.

The government has continued targeted support for beneficiaries of the Pradhan Mantri Ujjwala Yojana (PMUY)

Ujjwala households will receive ₹300 a cylinder on the first four refills each year — ₹1,200 per beneficiary a year; and even a non-PMUY household will still be paying about ₹700 below the market cost of LPG
