Dehradun, 13th June: The President of India, Smt Droupadi Murmu, reviewed the Passing Out Parade of the 158th Regular Course and the 141st Technical Graduate Course at the Indian Military Academy (IMA) in Dehradun on June 13, 2026.

Addressing the newly commissioned officers, the President congratulated the cadets on successfully completing one of the country's most demanding military training programmes. She said that courage, wisdom, and dedication would be their greatest strengths as they begin their service to the nation.

A key highlight of the parade was the participation of nine women cadets. The President described their presence as a historic milestone in the history of the Indian Military Academy. She said it reflects India's progress towards women-led development and marks an important chapter in the country's defence forces. She expressed confidence that more women would join the Academy in the coming years.

The President also congratulated cadets from friendly foreign nations who completed their training at IMA. She said they would bring honour to their respective armed forces and countries through the values and professional skills acquired during their training.

She noted that the presence of foreign cadets at IMA demonstrates India's commitment to friendship, cooperation, and peaceful relations with countries around the world. According to her, the bonds of trust, understanding, and professionalism developed at the Academy help strengthen defence cooperation between nations.

Reminding the young officers of their responsibilities, the President said they are entrusted with protecting India's sovereignty, unity, and integrity. She emphasized that they carry the hopes and trust of more than 140 crore citizens and urged them to always place service above self.

The President also highlighted the changing nature of global security challenges and technological advancements. She said the Indian Army must remain adaptive, innovative, and future-ready. She encouraged the newly commissioned officers to become lifelong learners, courageous decision-makers, and ethical leaders.

She further advised the officers to lead by example, inspire confidence among their troops, and foster teamwork and dedication. By balancing operational excellence with the welfare of soldiers, they can build trust and enhance the combat effectiveness of the units under their command.

Concluding her address, the President urged the young officers to uphold the finest traditions of the Indian Armed Forces, lead from the front, and remain committed to the values of duty, honour, and service.
