DRDO Showcases Advanced Defence Capabilities with Successful Missile Tests

CNB WORLD TIMES

New Delhi, June 13: The Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO) has successfully demonstrated several advanced defence technologies, significantly enhancing India's capability to counter a wide range of enemy threats.

DRDO conducted three consecutive flight tests on June 10 and 11, 2026, showcasing a multi-layered defence system against long-range ballistic missiles and demonstrating anti-ship strike capability at medium range.

A major highlight of the trials was the successful demonstration of the country's Multi-layered Ballistic Missile Defence (BMD) System. During the tests, interceptor missiles accurately engaged and neutralized their designated targets. The systems have been designed and developed using advanced technologies to address emerging missile threats.

With these successful trials, India has joined the select group of nations possessing Ballistic Missile Defence capabilities capable of engaging threats up to the level of Intercontinental Ballistic Missiles (ICBMs).

In another significant achievement, DRDO successfully carried out the maiden flight test of the Naval Anti-Ship Missile–Medium Range (NASM-MR). The missile is expected to strengthen the Indian Armed Forces' maritime strike capabilities.

Senior officials from DRDO and the Defence Forces witnessed the flight tests.

Defence Minister Rajnath Singh congratulated DRDO and all associated teams for the successful demonstration of these critical defence technologies.

Secretary, Department of Defence Research and Development and Chairman of DRDO, Rajesh Kumar Singh, closely monitored the trials and praised the coordinated efforts of DRDO scientists, engineers, and industry partners in achieving the milestone.

The successful tests mark another significant step in strengthening India's indigenous defence capabilities and advancing its strategic security preparedness.
