PM Modi to Visit Surat and Daman on June 5; Development Projects Worth ₹21,770 Crore to be Launched

New Delhi, June 4: Prime Minister Narendra Modi will visit Gujarat and Daman on June 5, 2026, to inaugurate, dedicate to the nation and lay foundation stones for development projects worth more than ₹21,770 crore.

The Prime Minister will first visit Hazira in Surat district at around 2:30 PM to review ongoing industrial operations and infrastructure projects. Later, at around 4:15 PM, he will launch and dedicate projects worth about ₹18,800 crore in Surat and address a public gathering.

After Surat, the Prime Minister will travel to Daman. At around 6:15 PM, he will inaugurate the new terminal building of NAMO Airport and dedicate NAMO Hospital to the nation. He will then launch development projects worth around ₹2,970 crore in Daman and lay the foundation stone for projects worth ₹885 crore in Lakshadweep.

Major Projects in Surat:

The projects in Surat cover roads, power, healthcare and industrial infrastructure.

Prime Minister Modi will dedicate Packages VI and VII of the 8-lane Access-Controlled Vadodara-Mumbai Expressway to the nation. The expressway is expected to improve transportation, logistics and economic connectivity between Gujarat and Maharashtra.

He will also lay the foundation stone for the four-laning of important sections of NH-56. The project will improve connectivity in tribal areas and provide better access to the Statue of Unity.

The Prime Minister will inaugurate a new 200-bed ESIC Hospital in Surat. The hospital will provide modern healthcare services, a central laboratory and 24-hour emergency and trauma care facilities.

Other projects include:

·         Expansion of Gujarat's power transmission network.

·         Modern power distribution upgrades in Valsad.

·         Advanced effluent treatment and disposal infrastructure at Dahej PCPIR and Sarigam GIDC.

·         Development of essential utilities at the Jambusar Bulk Drug Park.

Major Projects in Daman

In Daman, the Prime Minister will inaugurate and dedicate projects worth around ₹1,340 crore.

The key projects include:

·         New Terminal Building of NAMO Airport.

·         NAMO Hospital in Daman.

The new airport terminal is expected to improve regional air connectivity and support economic growth. NAMO Hospital has been designed to serve nearly 1,500 outpatients every day and strengthen healthcare services in the region.

Prime Minister Modi will also lay the foundation stone for projects worth around ₹1,630 crore.

Major projects include:

·         Iconic Bridge in Daman.

·         Daman Convention Centre.

·         NIFT Campus in Daman.

These projects are expected to boost tourism, attract investment, create jobs and improve public infrastructure.

Lakshadweep Port Projects

The Prime Minister will lay the foundation stone for four important projects worth around ₹885 crore in Lakshadweep.

The projects include the development of port facilities on both the eastern and western sides of Kalpeni Island and Kadmat Island.

The new multipurpose jetties will allow year-round berthing of large passenger and cruise vessels. They will also support cargo handling, fish processing facilities, fuel supply, ice distribution and boat repair services.

The projects are expected to improve maritime connectivity, support local fishermen, promote tourism and strengthen the socio-economic development of the islands.
