Operation Sindoor Showed India’s Resolve: Rajnath Singh

Raksha Mantri Shri Rajnath Singh said that Operation Sindoor demonstrated the courage of India’s defence forces and sent a global message that India would go to any extent to ensure the safety of its citizens. He made the statement while addressing the ‘Sindoor Maharaktadan Yatra’ Blood Donation Camp at Base Hospital, Delhi Cantt, on August 9, 2026.

Shri Rajnath Singh said that while Operation Sindoor represented courage and valour, the blood donation campaign represented compassion and selfless service. Around 1,000 wrestlers and athletes from Maharashtra participated in the campaign. He expressed gratitude to the donors and said that the donated blood would help maintain reserves for soldiers and their families during times of need.

The Raksha Mantri described blood donation as Jivandan and Mahadan, stressing that there is no artificial substitute for human blood. He urged citizens, particularly the youth, to make voluntary blood donation a regular practice. He also called for greater emphasis on fitness and highlighted initiatives such as Khelo India and Fit India.

Highlighting Maharashtra’s tradition of courage and compassion, Shri Rajnath Singh said that the legacy of Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj continues to inspire generations. He appreciated the participation of athletes and wrestlers from Maharashtra and said their contribution to the blood donation campaign was a noble service to the nation.

The event was attended by senior military and civil dignitaries, including Maharashtra Deputy Chief Minister Shri Eknath Shinde, Chief of the Army Staff General Dhiraj Seth and DG Armed Forces Medical Services Surgeon Vice Admiral Arti Sarin. The campaign also highlighted the importance of maintaining adequate blood reserves for military hospitals, which provide healthcare during routine, operational, trauma and emergency situations.
