New Delhi, 14th August 2025: Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi will visit India this week to hold talks with national Security Adviser Ajit Doval on the broader border dispute between the two countries. The high-level discussions. Scheduled for next week in New Delhi will mark the 24th round of boundary negotiations.

The visit comes just ahead of Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s trip to Tianjin, China, for the Shanghai Cooperation Organisation (SCO) summit. This will be Modi’s first visit to China since 2018, where he is expected to meet Chinese President Xi Jinping, Russian President Vladimir Putin, and Other leaders.

Defence Minister Rajnath Singh and External Affairs Minister S. Jaishankar had earlier participated in SCO ministerial meetings in June. During a visit to Beijing, Jaishankar met Xi Jinping and underlined the need for sustained leadership engagement to advance bilateral relations.

India-China ties have slowly stabilized following the May 2020 Ladakh intrusion and the subsequent Galwan Valley clash, which claimed the lives of 20 Indian soldiers and several Chinese troops. The upcoming talks are seen as a crucial step in maintaining this fragile stability while addressing unresolved boundary issues.
