Sundargarh, Odisha, 20th Sep, 2025: Today's society is not safe, young men do not hesitate to commit crime taking advantage of the situation and even commit heinous crimes like rape. Also some young men do not care about strict punishment like POCSO.
The train left her on her way back after seeing Vishwakarma Puja. While waiting at the station, two familiar young men extended a helping hand to two girls. Such an incident happened while two friends returning after renting a car.
The incident took place on the Barsuan-Bimlagarh road under K. Balang police station in Sundergarh district of Odisha.
Two friends from Bimalagarh area had left the Birmitrapur-Barsuan passenger train at 12 noon to see the Vishwakarma Puja organized in Barsuan on Wednesday. They were sitting at the station till around 8 pm because they missed the train while returning.
At this time, two familiar young men saw them at the station and sought help.
The two youths involved had hired a car to take the minor girl home. The car had the owner, the driver and another youth in it.
The driver and his accomplice stopped the car in a secluded forest between Barsuwan and Bimalagarh, beat up the youth they knew and gang-raped a 15-year-old minor girl.
The police have detained two people, including the accused driver.
Intellectuals are expressing concern over how such incidents are increasing day by day.
It is not just one or two incidents, but such incidents are happening repeatedly, but due to the lack of speedy trial of all the incidents with exemplary punishment, criminal cases like rape are increasing day by day.
It is being claimed that if this incident was given special attention, speedy trial and strict punishment as per the law, many rape incidents could have been prevented in the near future.
