Congress-led UDF Registers Historic Victory in Kerala Assembly Election 2026

CNB WORLD TIMES

Thiruvananthapuram, 4th May, 2026: The final results of the Kerala Assembly Election held in May 2026 have brought a major political shift in the state. The Congress-led United Democratic Front (UDF) secured a decisive victory, winning a comfortable majority in the 140-member Assembly. The alliance crossed the majority mark with ease, leading in over 100 seats, marking a strong comeback after nearly a decade.

The ruling Left Democratic Front (LDF), led by the CPI(M), suffered a significant setback and was reduced to fewer than 40 seats, reflecting strong anti-incumbency among voters.

The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP)-led NDA improved its performance compared to previous elections but remained a minor player in the state’s overall political landscape.

CPI(M) State Secretary M.V. Govindan said the LDF accepts the defeat. He said the party will study the reasons for the loss.

He also said the LDF will make necessary corrections after review. He added that they hope to regain the support of the people.

Overall, the 2026 election results indicate a clear mandate for change, with the UDF returning to power in Kerala and reshaping the state’s political dynamics.
