BJP-Led NDA Registers Historic Victory in West Bengal Assembly Election 2026

CNB WORLD TIMES

Kolkata, 4th May, 2026: The results of the 2026 West Bengal Assembly Election have delivered a decisive victory for the BJP-led NDA alliance, marking a major political shift in the state. The alliance secured a historic majority, significantly outperforming its rivals, including the ruling Mamata Banerjee-led party and Congress.

Reacting to the victory, Prime Minister Narendra Modi recalled his earlier statement and said:

“When the results of the Bihar elections were announced on November 14 last year, I had said from this very place, from the BJP headquarters, that the Ganga flows from Bihar onward to Gangasagar. And today, with the victory in Bengal, from Gangotri to Gangasagar, the lotus has bloomed everywhere, in Uttarakhand, Uttar Pradesh, Bihar, and now West Bengal. Today, in the states situated along the banks of the Ganga, there are BJP-NDA governments... In 2013, when the Bharatiya Janata Party entrusted me with the responsibility of being its prime ministerial candidate, and when I went to file my nomination in Kashi, journalists surrounded me. At that moment, a spontaneous feeling arose in my heart, and I had said that I have not come on my own, nor has anyone sent me, Maa Ganga has called me. And today, at every moment, I feel that the blessings of Maa Ganga are continuously showering upon all of us.”

The election campaign witnessed intense political activity across the state. Prime Minister Narendra Modi played a central role, conducting multiple rallies and roadshows to mobilize voters. His extensive campaigning efforts were seen as a key factor in energizing party workers and supporters.

Senior BJP leader Suvendu Adhikari also remained in the spotlight as a prominent face of the party’s campaign, leading grassroots efforts and addressing several public meetings.

The election period was marked by sharp exchanges between political leaders, with various issues dominating headlines. Even lighter cultural references, such as the popular street snack “jhalmuri,” found their way into political discussions, reflecting the unique tone of the campaign.

However, the election has not been without controversy. Allegations related to voter list revisions, use of administrative machinery, and campaign practices have surfaced from opposition parties. Some leaders have also raised concerns over the electoral process, including claims about EVM functioning and fairness.

Political analysts expect a phase of intense debate and scrutiny in the coming days, as parties review the results and discuss factors behind the outcome. Social media and news platforms are likely to see continued discussions, analysis, and political reactions.

Despite the controversies, the election outcome marks a significant moment in West Bengal’s political landscape, with the BJP-led NDA emerging as the dominant force in the state.
