Farmers Can Access Government Schemes on Mobile Through New Portal
CNB WORLD TIMES
Union Agriculture Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan launched the upgraded Agri Welfare Portal on October 19, 2026. The portal will help farmers across India access government schemes, financial assistance and agricultural information directly from their mobile phones.
The portal aims to reduce the need for farmers to visit government offices or use multiple websites to access services. It will provide information about government schemes, subsidies, eligibility rules and online application facilities in one place.
Farmers to Get Easy Access to Government Schemes
Speaking at the launch, Union Agriculture and Farmers’ Welfare Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan said the initiative supports Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s vision of Digital India and farmers’ welfare.
He said technology should reach villages and farms and make farmers’ lives easier. The new portal will bring farmers closer to government services and help them access information without unnecessary delays or intermediaries.
The portal will also connect Farmer Producer Organisations (FPOs), Primary Agricultural Credit Societies (PACS), agricultural scientists, researchers and startups on a common digital platform.
The minister directed officials to keep the portal updated with accurate and reliable information. He also stressed that the website should be simple enough for small and marginal farmers, including those with limited formal education, to use easily.
To help farmers use the portal and other digital services, a special training campaign will be organised through Krishi Vigyan Kendras across the country.
PM-KISAN and Crop Insurance Services on One Portal
The upgraded Agri Welfare Portal will serve as a single platform for accessing information and services related to major government initiatives, including PM-KISAN, AgriStack and the Pradhan Mantri Fasal Bima Yojana.
Farmers will be able to check scheme eligibility, apply for services online and access information about financial assistance. Direct Benefit Transfer (DBT) will help transfer eligible financial benefits directly to beneficiaries’ bank accounts.
The portal is designed to work smoothly on mobile phones, including basic smartphones. Its lightweight design will also help users in rural areas with limited internet connectivity.
Information on Weather, Seeds and Market Prices
The portal will provide reliable agricultural information to help farmers make informed decisions. This includes information on weather conditions, scientific farming practices, seed and fertiliser availability, and market prices of agricultural produce.
The platform has also been designed to make digital services more accessible to persons with disabilities. It supports screen readers and simple navigation to help visually impaired users access information more easily.
Developed according to the Digital Brand Identity Manual 3.0 and Guidelines for Indian Government Websites 3.0, the portal aims to provide a secure, accessible and mobile-friendly experience.
Senior officials from the Union Agriculture Ministry and the National Informatics Centre attended the launch programme.
The upgraded portal is expected to make it easier for farmers to find government services, access agricultural information and learn about schemes without visiting multiple offices or websites.
